why do you lose fame from OOW grabs. the OOW grabs should have penalty like 50% less land taken and no fame at all. this is fucking bullshit.

I'd like to apologize for the OOW grab that started this topic. I was greedy and thought that this grab would be just what I needed before going to incomemode. I'd been looking for prey for a day already and you was the ideal target, needing to send less than 1/3rd of my def which seemed a 'safe' grab to me :p
When indifferent I usually grab targets that aren't at war. When a target in war is the only and ideal target I tend to grab the guy if he doesn't seem targeted, has been 'softened up' or is doing a very good job against hated enemies of me.

yes we had that in the very past but that introduced an effect called “Warblocking”. Which is very undesired. So now the only reason to war is for extra gains and more power.

The problem with that is warblocking - alliances warring with no offensive ops or attacks in order to block unwanted wars with other alliances in order to grow. It's an ages old problem and the only prevention is to not close wars.

cant a timer be put in place that if not enough “war activity” happens in X amount of time then the war is cancelled and both tribes lose resources?

maybe make that if no ops or attacks are done in 8 (random number) then the war is over and both sides are penalized for “warblocking”. Another that could be done is maybe put in a spell or an op that would allow people to see everything that is going in that war. Im sure all of this has been talked about before. Im just tyring to think of ways to help better the game.

Yes, the problem is that every boundary is artificially. If you need to do some ops every 8 ticks thats fine, then ppl will throw 5 poisons at the enemy to have another 8 hour total protection.

Disencouraging to intervene in war is all that can be done. I think jammed's proposal of removing famegains is a step in the right direction. It doesn't prohibit intervening but makes it less obvious as the gains are lower than on a 'normal' target.

what about some random event that starts a war between two alliances. just some totally random. you log on and BAM your at war, neither of the elders declared it but there it is.....a WAR!

you would have to some type of regulation on that, for instance it wouldnt happen between alliance that more than like X percentage away from each other in either land or strength. just a thought.

Anyway, the problem with tribes attacking into decleared wars are easily solveble, just remove “official” wars :P

Imho (and I am not playing the game, so for what its worth), any restrictions to operations into wars is lame. If anyone interfer into your war, handle him after the war is over, do it the old fashon way, kill him even if the intervetion was to your benefit or even, make sure to do it if you won the war, since the ones who lost is way less likely to have the power for it.

The problem is that sometimes when operations are done into a war, the target simply deserve it. People who have never played without “war” does simply not understand that a war can be ongoing for way more then 48 hours, and if pissing me of, I would never care for what wars you declare. I would keep waring untill I decided I was done (e.i untill there is an official CF reported). Fine, you war whatever you like, but dont expect me to stop.

Now, the question rizes, why should I be penalized (no fame or negataive fame even) when obviously I was the one “there first”?

In the end, I am one of those who (If I had been playing) would argue for the removal of war as a coded funktion due to all the debate about moral's it creates. Its a game, it consist of rules (CoC) and game-mecanics (Harry ;) ), leave the moral issues to RL, just follow the rules.

In the end, to me, anything that is according to the rules and makes me win is good. I got moral values, but if a alliance cant enforce their threats or defend their tribes after pissing me of, the simply get what they deserve. So to me, dont declare war if you cant handle the effects of it, and being attacked by someone having an grudge from earlier is an effect of weakening you possition.

Anyway, thats just me, and most of the older players know me ;)
